Peking University seems to me to be the logical choice regarding its ranking and the quality of its teachers. Thus it is the best option to follow a LL.M program in Chinese Law, a real asset for my future career as an international lawyer.

Both the desire to study at a world class institution and the opportunity to pursue a course that can be tailored towards my own ambitions, both professionally and personally, inspired me to choose Peking. Peking is one of the oldest law schools in China and the prospect of studying at a member institution of the prestigious C9 league and a top 20 world university is something that particularly excites me. The reputation and experience of the professors is similarly fitting. Having looked at the many options offered by Chinese universities, it was the structure and freedom offered which led me to put Peking as my number one choice. In the first year, the list of courses is impressive; the comprehensive and wide ranging list of modules will allow me to combine career ambition and personal interest, as well as offering the prospect of developing new interests. It is, however, the second year of this course which I feel sets it apart from competitors such as Tsinghua. This offers the opportunity to gain the two things that I would deem to be of the most value in postgraduate study; both the opportunity to develop your own ideas with freedom and the opportunity to gain practical experience within the field. Upon graduating I feel as though I will have gained much more than a degree. Not only will I have an academic qualification in Chinese Law, but hopefully, after both writing a thesis and the experience of an internship, I will have a much more in depth understanding of the way in which these skills can be utilized in the real world. The end result should be a candidate not only qualified to, both also sufficiently equipped to embark of a China related legal career.
